Starting with the flagship A520 LG, this is a 3D machine with FPR Full HD technology on board. “The film Patterned Retarder (FPR) optimizes the separation of images for the left and right eye, which are then filtered through the lens to give viewers really great, blur-free 3D images,” says the official release.

It has a 15.6-inch, full 1080p display of the LED backlit LCD screen and packs a Sandy Bridge or i5 i7 CPU. The graphics are powered by Nvidia, the GeForce 540 GT with 2GB memory from the top option. Sound is courtesy of a wide SRS 3D sound system and there is Blu-ray playback, Bluetooth 3.0 + HS, and HDMI like on HP 17-1181NR Envy. The P420 and P210 are very similar in appearance, except for their screen sizes, the 14-inch and 12.5-inch former on the latter.

The P420 excels in the hardware department but with half-generation chip i5 (unlike the original i3 or i5), and you can opt for Nvidia GeForce GT 520M graphics instead of Intel HD ones.

“LG is proud to introduce this exciting new line-up of innovative and award-winning notebooks,” said JJ Lee, EVP and head of the PC business unit of LG Electronics. “LG P210 recently won a iF (International Forum Design Award) and the P420 shows unique DNA LG’s design. Along with the A520, the 2011 lineup of notebooks deliver sustainable technology with next generation performance. ” LG notebooks are due in the first quarter of 2011, with prices still to be confirmed.
